Location and Directions

Hunter Army Airfield is in Savannah, Georgia. Drivers can reach the installation from U.S. 17, Interstate 16, Interstate 95, and Georgia State Route 21.

From Savannah Hilton Head International Airport, follow I-95 South, I-16 East, and GA-21 South/I-516 East toward Montgomery Street. Turn onto Montgomery Street and continue to the airfield. Newly assigned Soldiers must first report to Fort Stewart’s Marne Reception Center, Building 200. The installation does not have public bus or taxi transportation.

Visitor Information

People entering Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield need a military identification card or visitor pass. Visitors need proper identification or a DoD escort. The Visitor Control Center is at Building 1400 on Montgomery Street and is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is closed on weekends and federal holidays. Montgomery Gate is open daily from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Rio Gate and Wilson Gate are open 24 hours. Guards conduct random vehicle inspections. Confirm current entry rules, gate hours, and identification needs before your trip.

Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield provide school liaison and education support for military families. Pulaski Elementary School is identified on the installation map. Parent Central Services is in Building 6054 on North Perimeter Road. Medical Services

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Services include flight medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, physical therapy, optometry, radiology, laboratory services, and pharmacy ancillary services. It is closed on weekends and federal holidays, and it closes from noon to 4:30 PM on the first Thursday of each month for training.

Recreation and Amenities

Recreation choices include Hunter Golf Course, Hunter Outdoor Recreation, Tomac Gym, Squires Sports Complex, Hunter Club, Lott’s Island Recreation Area, Hallstrom Lake Recreation Area, an archery range, a skeet range, and a campground.
