Location and Directions

Tyndall AFB is in Bay County on Florida’s Gulf Coast, about 12 miles east of Panama City. The main road is U.S. Highway 98, also called Tyndall Parkway. From Interstate 10, take Exit 130 to U.S. Highway 231 south, turn left on Transmitter Road, then turn left on U.S. Highway 98 and continue about 6 miles to the base.

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is about 32 miles away. Taxi, rideshare, or shuttle service may be arranged, but the Bay Town Trolley does not go to the base. Tyndall does not have a daily shuttle bus; shuttle buses are used for base-wide events.

Visitor Information

The Visitor Control Center is at 2580 Highway 98 and is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It handles visitor passes and vetting. Everyone entering the installation must complete a physical identification check, and the Trusted Traveler program is suspended indefinitely. Tyndall Gate, Sabre Gate, Airey Gate, and Cleveland Gate have different hours and rules, so contact the Visitor Control Center at 850-283-9927 before traveling. Holiday closures and other changes may affect access.

Housing and Lodging

Family housing is privatized and managed by Tyndall AFB Homes. For housing help, call 850-283-2737 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The housing office is in Building 662 at the Base Support Center.
