Location and Directions

NAF Atsugi is in Ayase City, Kanagawa Prefecture, about 16 kilometers west of Yokohama and 36 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. Base, medical, and airport shuttles are available. The airport shuttle connects the installation with Haneda and Narita airports, but advance reservations are required. Sponsors should arrange ground transportation for arriving personnel. Visitor Information

The Main Gate and East Gate are open 24 hours a day, every day. The West Gate is open from 0530 to 0830 and 1515 to 1830 on weekdays. The JMSDF Gate is for foot traffic only and follows the same weekday hours. The Pass and ID Office is open 0600-2359 Monday through Friday and 0700-2359 on weekends. One-day guest visits are allowed from 0800 to 2359 daily.

Guest and vehicle passes require an eligible sponsoring SOFA member registered in DBIDS. Longer stays need advance guest-pass arrangements, along with valid medical or travel insurance accepted in Japan. Government housing includes high-rise buildings, townhouses, garden apartments, and single-family homes. Eligibility and availability depend on status, rank, family size, and current inventory.
