Location and Directions

Moody AFB is on Georgia Highway 125, also called Bemiss Road, about 10 miles northeast of Valdosta and about 30 miles north of the Florida border. From Valdosta Regional Airport, take Georgia Highway 31 to Ashley Street, then follow Ashley Street to Bemiss Road. The base is about 9 miles from that turn. There is no public transportation system in Valdosta, and the base has no current transportation service.

Visitor Information

The Welcome Visitors Center is at 9320 Davidson Road, Building 16. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on weekends and holidays. Call 229-257-4443. Visitors generally need a sponsor or an approved visitor-access process.

Visitors and contractors age 18 and older generally need a REAL ID-compliant license or ID card, or an unexpired U.S. passport or passport card, to get a base pass. Foreign visitors must complete identity checks and have a visitor pass. Confirm current gate and identification rules before traveling.

Housing and Lodging

Government and nongovernment housing options are available. Contact the housing office before signing an off-base lease or purchase agreement. The privatized housing resident advocate is in Building 320 and can be reached at 229-257-3537.

Moody Inn is at 3213 Mitchell Boulevard, Building 201. Call 229-257-3893. It has 38 family units, 61 Visiting Quarters, and 6 Distinguished Visiting Quarters. It is the 24-hour arrival point for personnel arriving after 4:30 p.m.

Facilities and Services

The base has an Airman and Family Readiness Center, Freedom I Fitness Center, library, Exchange, dining facility, and personnel services. The Exchange includes a food court, military clothing sales, optical shop, dry cleaning and alterations, flower shop, and beauty shop.

Full-time child care is available through the Child Development Center, but some age groups may have waiting lists. The center accepts requests using DD Form 2606. The library is open Monday through Saturday, with weekday and Saturday hours that vary.

Schools and Childcare

No on-base schools are listed. Most military-connected children attend Lowndes County School System or Valdosta City Schools. Some families may live in areas served by Berrien County or Lanier County schools.
