Location and Directions

Kirtland Air Force Base is in the southeast section of Albuquerque. The Albuquerque International Sunport is west of the base and shares runways with it.

Visitor Information

The Truman Visitor Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 505-853-0397 about base-access rules and visitor passes. The visitor pre-notification form must be taken to Truman Gate by the sponsor no earlier than three days before the visit date.

Housing and Lodging

The Housing Management Office helps with on-base and community housing, rental and home-purchase counseling, lease help, and landlord-tenant disputes for eligible personnel. Kirtland Inn offers family, officer, and enlisted quarters, temporary lodging, and a limited number of pet-friendly units. Call 505-846-9653; the lodging office is in Building 22016. Unaccompanied housing is in Building 20222 at 505-853-5479 for eligible unaccompanied Airmen, including E-1 through E-3 and certain E-4 personnel.

Facilities and Services

The Military and Family Readiness Center offers relocation, financial, deployment, employment, family advocacy, new parent, and loan closet services. The center is at 1451 4th Street SE, Building 20245.

Other Force Support services include fitness and sports, youth programs, bowling, golf, outdoor recreation, child care, auto hobby services, the Aero Club, arts and crafts, and Information, Tickets and Travel. Confirm gate and visitor-pass procedures before arrival.

Schools and Childcare

Gibson Child Development Center, at 505-846-1103, and Maxwell Child Development Center, at 505-853-5510, provide weekly and hourly care for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Both are open Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Family Child Care offers licensed in-home care on base or nearby; call 505-846-2222.

The Youth Center offers before- and after-school care, summer camp for children ages 5-12, and open recreation for youth ages 9-17. The Education Office provides academic advising, college courses, funding guidance, and testing. The School Liaison Program helps with pre-K-12 school navigation, school changes, special education, and local school-district coordination.

Medical Services

The 377th Medical Group, also called Kirtland Medical Group, is at 1501 San Pedro Drive SE, Building 47. It provides primary care, laboratory services, radiology, preventive care, public health, physical medicine, referral management, and patient advocacy.
