Location and Directions

The main entrance is Chaffee Gate on U.S. 31W, using the Bullion Boulevard exit. The Visitor Control Center is next to Chaffee Gate at Building 17, 641 Bullion Boulevard, Fort Knox, KY 40121.

Visitor Information

The Visitor Control Center is open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day. Chaffee Gate is open 24 hours a day. Wilson Gate is open from 6:00–9:00 a.m. and 3:00–6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Brandenburg Gate is open from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both gates close on listed federal holidays, and Wilson Gate also closes on training holidays.

Visitors without a valid Department of Defense identification card generally must stop at the Visitor Control Center for identity checks, vetting, and registration. Non-U.S. citizens must have a written sponsor and an escort who has a DoD identification card. Fort Knox also offers an online five-day Fast Pass request, but approval is still subject to installation checks. Confirm current access rules before traveling.

Fort Knox operates an Unaccompanied Housing Army Barracks Management Program.
